Kawah Putih

I had the great privilege to visit a volcanic crater that has been inactive for more than 300 years. Its known as Kawah Putih and located in this small mountainous town called Ciwidey (Chee-we-day) which is 50 km from Bandung. After experiencing unbearable hot days in Jakarta I was very excited to visit a cooler climate. Yet I was not prepared to experience the beautiful scenery Ciwidey had to offer. The road leading to Kawah Putih was painted with tea estates and strawberry fields. The air was cool enough for a light jacket and deep breaths. I almost felt like cheating when I was taking pictures because it was impossible to capture a bad picture.

A winding and narrow road took up to the volcanic crater where local tourists posed infront of the "Kawah Putih" sign to capture their moment there. The moment you step out of the car you can smell the sulfur in the air and smell becomes stronger when you get closer to the lake.

I hope you enjoy these pictures!
